Eliminate delta infection with herbal antiviral drug
Herbal antiviral therapy for Covid-19 has recently been discovered by scientists at the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom, which is effective in treating SARS-Cov-2 virus strains, even the highly infectious delta.
According to News, the fight to control the Covid-19 epidemic is very difficult with the continued emergence of dangerous SARS-Cov-2 strains that are either more infectious or cause more severe infections or both.
A team of scientists led by Professor Qin Chao Chang of the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary and Science found that the delta type has the highest reproductive capacity compared to other recent species.
This strain has the highest rate of proliferation in cells and the highest ability to spread to neighboring cells, and in co-infections with two different types of SARS-Cov-2, the delta type increased the number of infected partners.
The results of this study show that a new natural antiviral drug called Topsigargin (TG), recently discovered by the same team of scientists to prevent other viruses, including the original SARS-Koo-2, is equally effective in treating all new SARS viruses. Cow-2 is one of the most effective delta types.
In previous studies, the group found that plant-derived antiviral drugs, in low doses, elicit a broad-spectrum innate immune response against three major types of human respiratory virus, including SARS-Koo-2.
In the latest study, researchers tried to find out to what extent alpha, beta and delta sarce-coo-2 species are able to multiply in cells relative to each other as monocyte infections and co-infections (cells become infected with both types simultaneously).
The team also wanted to find out how effective TG is in preventing emerging species.
Of these three, the delta variant showed the highest ability to proliferate in cells and had the highest ability to propagate directly to neighboring cells. Its contamination rate in 24 hours was more than four times that of alpha and nine times that of beta.
In concomitant infections, the delta type increased the number of infected partners. In addition, co-infection with alpha and delta, or alpha and beta, produced concomitant synergies in which the overall output of the new virus was greater than the sum of the corresponding univariate infections.
Notably, all SARS-Cu-2 strains were severely treated with TG. An initial dose of TG before infection effectively blocked all univariate infections and any concomitant infections in more than 95% of controls. TG was effective in inhibiting any species during active infection.
"The results of the new study give us a better insight into the dominance of the delta, even though we have shown that it is clearly the most contagious and increases the production of other types, but we are pleased to show that TG "It's equally effective against all of them."
These results point to the antiviral potential of TG as a post-exposure prophylaxis and an active therapeutic agent.
The findings are published in the journal Virulence.
